Directors & Committees

The International Street & Ball Hockey Federation is a registered non-profit organization. It is officially recognized as the governing body of the sport by the International Ice Hockey Federation, with many of its member nations officially recognized by their federal sports agencies.

The ISBHF provides the following administrative services:

  • Organize Men’s, Juniors’, and Women’s international competitions for World Championships, Continental Championships, and Regional Championships
  • Organize Youth Regional competitions
  • Organize annual congress of members in January of each year, and a general meeting of members during the World Championship each June
  • Assist nations with developing street/ball hockey leagues
  • Print and distribute rules for international competitions
  • Promote the sport of street/ball hockey on a global level
  • Publish newsletters about the sport from the local, national, and international levels
  • Provide free web pages for member nations
  • Set bylaws and regulations for members as a guideline
  • Develop equipment for the sport and seek partnerships with manufacturers
  • Resolve any disputes of an international scope
  • Provide referee training where economically feasible
  • Provide information to the general public about the sport and ISBHF member nations
  • Encourage communication among members to assist each others’ development
  • Work with other sport governing bodies such as the International Ice Hockey Federation in developing hockey at the grass roots level

The International Street & Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF) was founded in Oshawa, Canada on June 6, 1993.
The ISBHF is a non-profit organisation registered in the Czech Republic (Reg. No./ICO: 63832992), based in Prague.
As the global governing body, the ISBHF aims to support, develop and unite national street & ball hockey associations.

Members – National Associations attend the ISBHF Annual Conference and elect the ISBHF President and Board of Directors in even years for a 2 year term.

George Gortsos

President

George Gortsos is a Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA) Hall of Fame Player, and ISBHF Hall of Fame Coach.  He was part of 4 CBHA National Championship teams winning Gold in 1991 through 1994. He was Captain of Canada and a World All-Star Defenseman in the first ISBHF World Championship in 1996 in Bratislava, Slovakia.  He was part of 4 Canadian teams that won  ISBHF World Championship Gold in 2001, 2003, 2005 & 2007 as Head Coach.  He served on the CBHA Board from 2009 to 2012. He was elected in as ISBHF President in 2012 and has been in this position since that time serving three "2 year" terms to date for the ISBHF Family of Nations.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of seven members. Four Level IV Board Members (most developed nations) have a ‘permanent’ position on the ISBHF Board of Directors, while the other three Board Members (Level III & II Members) are voted upon every two years at the ISBHF AGM.

Ronny Strähler

Representative for Switzerland

Ronny Straehler started playing ball hockey for the Swiss Top Team SHC Belpa 1107 at the Age of 14. He represented his native country of Switzerland at numerous World Championships on the Junior and Men’s A Level and also played for the Scarborough Blues in Toronto, Canada. In 2013, he took over the coaching responsibilities for his home club. Ronny joined the ISBHF BOD as the Swiss Representative in 2016 and currently co-chairs the ISBHF Coaching Committee.

Roman Novák

Representative for Czech Republic, Financial Director

Roman Novák has been playing ball hockey in the Czech Republic since 1995. He is a Czech national league player, coach for youth players and member of the Czech Ball Hockey Association Board.
Roman has been serving as an ISBHF BOD since 2014 and is the Financial Director, as well as a member of the Development Division.

Elio Pascuzzo

Representative for Canada, Technical Director

Elio Pascuzzo has been involved in ball hockey since the 1970s as a player, coach, manager, referee and league administrator, among other responsibilities. He was a member of a Canadian National Championship Gold Medal winning team as a player in 1999 and was Head Coach of the Canadian Junior National Championship Gold Medal winning team in 2013. Elio represented Team Canada as a player at the 2012 ISBHF World Masters Championships. He is currently serving in the role of VP-International for Canada and co-chairs both the ISBHF Technical and 3 on 3 Committees.

Július Száraz

Representative for Slovakia, Chairman of 2019 World Championship in Slovakia

Július Száraz is the General Secretary of the Slovak Ball Hockey Federation and recently served as Chairman of the 2019 ISBHF World Championships in Kosice, Slovakia from June 14th-22nd. Prior to this, Julius served as VP of the Slovak Ball Hockey Federation. He is also a competitive player, and has played in three consecutive Masters World Champioships for Slovakia. The ISBHF is grateful to lean on the experience and professionalism that Julius has accumulated over his tenured ball hockey career as a steadfast builder.

Ricky Laperriere

Co-Chairperson of 3 on 3 Division

Ricky Laperriere is the United States Board of Director for ISBHF and has represented the U.S since 2005. Ricky has been the owner of the Mylec brand since 1990. Both Mylec and Ricky are heavily involved in the growth and development of ball hockey in United States. Since 2012, Mylec has hosted the Mylec Cup with active participation from teams across the U.S. northeast. Ricky currently co-chairs the ISBHF 3 on 3 committee.

Colin Gennoe

Representative for Asia

Colin Gennoe, a Canadian citizen, has been living and playing ball hockey in South Korea since 2008. He is the captain of the Korea National Team and is currently working to establish the Korea Ball Hockey Association. Colin has been serving as a BOD for ISBHF since 2015 and is currently the Marketing Director, as well as the Asia Pacific Director and Director of Global Development for ISBHF.

Jenny Hehir

Representative for Great Britain

Jenny Hehir represents Great Britain to the ISBHF and brings of wealth of playing & coaching experience to the table. Jenny has played in four consecutive ISBHF World Championships dating back to 2013 and is very active in coaching the Great Britain Junior Programs. From manager of the GB Junior U18 & U20 teams in St. John's in 2018 to coaching a junior development GB Lions team in Slovakia in 2017, Jenny has been a dedicated builder, coach, and player for Great Britain and the ISBHF is honored to work with Jenny as she brings her experience and dedication to the ISBHF Board.

ISBHF Secretariat

The ISBHF Board of Directors appoints the ISBHF Secretary, who serves as the administrator and primary contact point of the organisation.

David Tor

After playing youth ball hockey for his hometown Kladno, Czech Republic, David Tor returned to the sport at the 2017 ISBHF World Championships as a volunteer; working for the ISBHF in both marketing and administration. David quickly established himself as credible and was promoted to ISBHF Secretariat, as well as Senior Admin & Communication Manager following the World Championships and now works as the primary contact point for the organisation.

ISBHF Technical Committee

MANDATE – To continuously evaluate ISBHF regulations for the purpose of facilitating highly competitive and well-organized World Championship events.  To manage technical components of World Championship events in person in order to deal with championship scheduling, rankings and rulings as in synergy with the Referees-in-Chief (RIC’s).  Finally; to respond to inquiries from ISBHF Federations, fans and guests throughout the year as communicated through ISBHF Secretariat, David Tor.

George Gortsos

MANDATE – To create an online Coaching Certification and Educational Camp Certification for ISBHF coaches.  Ultimately, to establish an ISBHF Master Coaching Certificate Program. To create a Ball Hockey Coaches network and ISBHF information database by way of video infrastructure. To support the ISBHF Global Development Division and newly established federations through providing coaching materials and certification as they require.
