News From ISBHF June Meetings

News from recent ISBHF June Meeting included the announcement of Pisek, CZE, as host of next WJC (all categories), as well as the suspension of membership of both India and Italy.

WJC 2012 will be hosted by Pisek, CZE, for all three U16, U18, and U20 categories.  The move and combination will permit the events to be held later in June and ease the ability of other nations to avoid school conflicts, thereby increasing participation.  It is expected that the change will result in the USA sending teams to all three age groups and an increase in likelihood of more European nations being able to field teams.

Bids for WJC 2014 are expected from Germany, Switzerland, and USA, and will be entertained January 2011.

Status of several nations developing the sport were reviewed during the June Meeting.  It was decided that both India and Italy would be suspended from ISBHF membership due to the lack of progress in those nations, as well as failure to meet new membership regulations.  Both will have until August 31 to appeal the decision.  An Extraordinary Member Meeting has been set for September to review any such appeal, to review membership reports from other nations, as well as to finalize WC2011 participation and format.
