Final Canada vs Czech Republic

Canada – Czech Republic 5 - 0 (4-0,1-0,0-0)

Canada has dominated the round robin and qualified early for the final while Czech Republic squeezed in the last moment after winning the shoot out against Slovakia. A clear thing for Canada then? Not necessarily, the Czech player were full of self-confidence after their success from yesterday evening.

Canada took control of the game and tried to nail down the Czech Republic in their period. The Czech players were well positioned and were eagerly waiting for their chances. Czech Republic and Canada then successfully killed several penalties. With 55 seconds left on the clock Pat McCarron opened the score on a pass from Randy Cox.

Things went quickly in the central period. Garret Wilson, Jagpel Sandhu and Andrew Howes brought Canada 4 to 0 up in the first five minutes. With Andrew Shaw making a fifth goal for Canada, the game was more or less decided before the end of the period.

In the last period Canada controlled the game, the Czech Republic that had used a lot of energy in yesterday's game against Austria was not able to react and to come back in the game.

With this victory Canada successfully defends its title won in St. John's 2008.
