Men’s World Championship

The first World Senior Championship took place in 1996 in Bratislava, Slovakia, followed in Litomerice, Czech Republic (1998), and then in Zvolen, Slovakia in 1999. It has since been contested every two years, on every odd numbered year, with Toronto, Canada playing host in 2001, Sierre, Switzerland, in 2003, and Pittsburg, USA, having the honours in June 2005.  WC 2007 was held in Dusseldorf, Germany, followed by Pilsen, Czech Republic hosted in June 2009.  The  most recently WC event in Zug, Switzerland in 2015 and upcoming WC in 2017 in Pardubice, Czech Republic. Information on how to qualify may be obtained below.

How to qualify for the World Championship

In order to qualify for any of the World Championship tournaments, National teams must ensure that their National Governing Body is a member of the ISBHF, or has applied for membership. Please see the HOW TO JOIN section for more information, or if you do not yet have an official National Governing Body.

There are specific regulations regarding the players that are eligible to compete on behalf of a nation, for more information please see ISBHF Eligibility Rules and Decision of the ISBHF concerning heritage players.
