The ISBHF is both pleased and honored to announce that the Czech Republic will host the U-16 boys World Cup in 2018. From June 28th – July 1st, players born January 1st, 2002 (01/01/2002) or later will face off and in many circumstances, represent their nations for the first time on the world stage. Many of these players represent the future lions guarding the sport and the ISBHF is unreserved in expressing its appreciation to the Czech Republic in stepping forward to host this inaugural championship. The ISBHF has absolute confidence that the Czech hosts will demonstrate superb management. One must only look back to the World Men’s & Women’s Championships this past June, hosted in Pardubice, Czech Republic with extraordinary success and attendance records broken.

This championship is unprecedented in both scope and scale, seeing that the U-18 & U-20 World Championships will be hosted from July 4th-8th in St. John’s, Canada. Separating the U-16 from the U-18/20 World Championships is to ensure that Junior World Championships are able to be facilitated within 4-5 days.

These championships will be hosted in the beautiful, historic region of Moravia which is on the Eastern side of the Czech Republic and near the border with Slovakia. Expect plenty of energy at the Czech vs.Slovak showdowns!  Both hosting cities; Zlin and Prerov are about 30 minutes from each other. Zlin is unique and interestingly enough, Tomas Bata set up shoe factory there in 1894 and the Bata brand has grown to be one of the most successful in the world.

Zlin’s architecture is absolutely unique!

Prerov dates back to 1256 and almost every corner of the city exhibits rich Czech history.

Prerov dates back nearly 800 years!

The ISBHF welcomes players, families, and fans alike to the Czech Republic next June 28th for what promises to be a truly momentous championship!
