About the main venue
The Zimný štadión mesta Poprad, opened in 1973, has a seating capacity of approximately 4,500 and serves as the home arena for the top-flight ice hockey team HK Poprad. The stadium underwent significant renovations between 2006 and 2008, including updates to seating, lighting, and the cooling system. Further improvements were made in 2016 to meet IIHF standards for the Under-18 World Championships.

This championship marks the return of the U20 category after a two-year break, with Canada being the reigning champion in both Men’s and Women’s categories, having defeated Slovakia in both finals back in Liberec.
